A graduate of Western Kentucky University, Carrie Barnette completed her Masters in Community Arts Management at the University of Illinois-Springfield in 1999. At UIS, she held internships with WUIS Public Radio and the Springfield Area Arts Council and served as the Interim Marketing Director for the Illinois Symphony. In 1998, Mrs. Barnette joined the Capitol Arts Alliance in Bowling Green, Kentucky first as Education Director then after a promotion to Deputy Director, became President in 2001, being responsible for all strategic and daily operations. Carrie then became Director of Development for University Libraries at Western Kentucky University in January 2004. While at WKU, she has increased funding to the Southern Kentucky Book Fest by more than 20% in her first year and is spearheading the fundraising efforts for the renovation and creation of several permanent exhibits at the Kentucky Museum. Carrie also teaches a performing arts management course at WKU. She lives in Bowling Green with her husband, Chris, a field sales trainer and sales representative for Hawthorn Pharmaceuticals.
